Are campsite alerts free?
OpenCampsite is free during beta, with up to three active alerts and no card required. Each alert watches one park or campground. Paid options with more alerts and faster checks are planned for after beta.
Can I get campsite alerts by text, email, or push notification?
Choose email or text for each alert and verify that destination. You can also enable browser push notifications for all your alerts in Account. Push requires a supported browser and notification permission.
Which campgrounds can I watch?
Search for your park or campground above. OpenCampsite supports locations across the US and Canada, including campgrounds on Recreation.gov, ReserveCalifornia, ReserveAmerica, Parks Canada, Ontario Parks, and BC Parks. Coverage varies by location; the search shows whether you can create an alert.
How quickly will I hear about a campsite cancellation?
OpenCampsite checks booking calendars day and night on an adaptive schedule and sends a notification when a check finds a matching opening. Checks are periodic, so a cancellation can happen between checks. Delivery time also depends on your email, mobile carrier, or browser.
Does an alert reserve the campsite for me?
No. An alert does not book or hold a campsite. Follow the booking link, confirm availability for your full stay and equipment, and pay the park's normal reservation fees on its official booking site. Another camper may book the opening before you reach it.
