How Recreation.gov availability alerts work
Recreation.gov also offers its own Availability Alerts. Its official guidance says an alert is sent when a booked campsite matching your preferences becomes available, but the same notice can go to everyone watching those dates and does not guarantee a reservation.
Release timing varies by facility. Recreation.gov says most campgrounds open inventory at 7 a.m. Pacific, 8 a.m. Mountain, or 10 a.m. Eastern, but campers should verify the location's Seasons & Fees tab.
