When cancellations actually happen
Parks Canada's current policy refunds camping fees when a reservation is cancelled at least three days before arrival, while keeping the reservation and cancellation fees. Later cancellations can also lose the first night's camping fee, and no-shows can lose more.
A cancelled reservation can return to the public calendar, but Parks Canada does not publish a Banff restock hour or promise that a suitable site will reappear. Watching is useful precisely because the timing is uncertain.
