Refund Policy

The short version: your first subscription has a 7-day money-back guarantee, a single trip pass is refundable for 24 hours (or any time before you start an alert with it), you can cancel anytime and keep what you paid for, and we don't refund based on whether a campsite happened to open up. Billing mistakes are always on us.

1. Free Access and Paid Upgrades

Free beta access remains available without a card. Charges apply only when you choose a subscription or Trip Pass and complete Stripe checkout.

2. First Subscription: 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee

If you're not happy with your first OpenCampsite subscription for any reason, email us within 7 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full — no questions, no hoops.

The guarantee applies once per customer, to the first payment of your first subscription (monthly or annual).

3. After the First 7 Days

Alerts work by watching for other campers' cancellations, and cancellations are unpredictable. Subscribing pays for around-the-clock monitoring — it cannot create availability. For that reason, we don't issue refunds because no campsite opened up during your alert window.

You can cancel anytime from the billing page (self-serve, via the secure Stripe customer portal). Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and you won't be charged again.

Annual plans cancelled mid-year keep their features until the paid-through date; we don't prorate partial refunds outside the 7-day guarantee.

4. Single Trip Passes

A trip pass is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — it can't renew and there's no card kept on file. It covers one alert for one trip.

Changed your mind? Email us within 24 hours of buying a trip pass and we'll refund it in full, no questions. Haven't started an alert with it yet? We'll refund it any time before you do.

If we never managed to run a single check for you — a campground's booking system blocked us for your whole window — we refund that pass in full, and you don't have to ask. That's on us, not on you.

What we don't refund is a pass that did its job and no campsite opened up. Once you've started an alert with a pass, it's been used: it stays with that alert through the end of your trip, and deleting the alert doesn't return it.

5. Billing Mistakes

Duplicate charges, charges after a completed cancellation, or any billing error on our side: tell us and we'll refund the mistaken charge promptly and in full.

6. How to Request a Refund

Email hey@opencampsite.com from the address on your account with the word "refund" in the subject. Include the approximate payment date. We aim to respond within 2 business days; refunds are returned to your original payment method by Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days.
