Devils Garden Campground reservations: why they go quickly and what to try next
NPS says Devils Garden is usually full every night in its busy season, when roughly 50 individual sites are available by reservation.
OpenCampsite sends an email after a check detects matching availability. It does not reserve or hold a site; booking stays on the official reservation system.
Why Devils Garden Campground made this collection
The hard-to-book case concerns March through October, when NPS says the campground is usually full nightly. Winter uses a different, first-come system.
NPS says the busy-season campground is usually full every night and sites are normally reserved months in advance.
NPS lists about 50 reservable sites at the only developed campground in Arches, 18 miles from the visitor center at the end of the park road.
Individual sites are reservation-only from March through October; from November through February, the facility changes to first-come, first-served use.
When reservations open
For a March through October arrival, standard sites open at 10 am Eastern Time six months ahead and close to advance booking four days before arrival under the current NPS rules.
Winter is not a late-booking extension of the same calendar. It is first come, first served, so review the current facility notice and arrive prepared for cold high-desert conditions and limited services.
Where a second chance can come from
Search again before the four-day advance-booking cutoff if your preferred date was full. A canceled site can help only while Recreation.gov is still accepting that arrival under the posted rule.
Keep more than one compatible spur on the list. RV and trailer capacity varies by site, and booking an undersized opening can leave you without a legal place for the vehicle at the end of the park road.
Useful alternatives
The Needles Campground
This Canyonlands campground offers another national-park base near Moab, but it serves a different district and should be matched to a Needles itinerary rather than an Arches commute.
Willow Flat Campground
Willow Flat can anchor an Island in the Sky visit when Devils Garden is unavailable; it is not inside Arches and has its own facilities and booking rules.
Common questions
When are Devils Garden sites reservable?
Individual campsites are reservable for March through October, with the earliest booking at 10 am Eastern Time six months ahead and the latest four days before arrival. Confirm the current dates on NPS and Recreation.gov before acting.
Can I reserve Devils Garden in winter?
Under the posted park rules, November through February sites are first come, first served rather than advance reservations. Download the Recreation.gov app before arriving because winter payment uses Scan and Pay and cell service in the park is limited.
Is there another campground inside Arches?
No other developed campground is listed inside Arches. If Devils Garden does not work, compare campgrounds around Moab or in Canyonlands with the location of your planned hikes; those alternatives do not provide the same after-hours position inside Arches.
